VIEWING MULTIPLE TOPICS ON SCREEN: You can choose to see more than 10 Topics at a time ... Log In and choose "Preferences" from the top bar on the Forum page. Scroll down and Change the "Default Topics Returned" parameter to 25 or 50, and save the changes. Since this setting is stored in your browser 'cookies' (if enabled), it seems to use that stored value even if you are not logged in. So, if you use a PC that you haven't logged into the forum from, the setting still seem to remain at the default.
EXTERNAL PHOTO LINKS ON FORUM: You can still use external photo links in your posts on the new forum. They follow the rules of any link in that they have to have the URL link qualified down to the full image file name (example: .jpg). The links will open in a new browser window, the same as an uploaded image attached to a post. Since an image attachment to any post does not display inline with the post, the results are the same. You can use multiple external links within a post. This link is from photos on a site from Don Clink's 'Deuce@75' albums:

Using links from photo sites such as Photobucket can help in "size" issue with uploaded attachment files. For best viewing in web browsers, photos should be around the 800x600 pixel range, and probably not more than 1024x768. Most cameras today store HUGE jpg image files, as the default settings are in the 7, 8, 10, and 12Mb image sizes. The image files that are then attached are very large, and the browser can't display the full image size without using the scroll bars. Use the re-sizing functions of your photo editing software to reduce the image to 800x600, which reduces the file sixe and the image load time in the browser. Don uses Google's free Picassa3 software, which is an excellent photo management product. All of the photo albums of the Deuce, Grand National, and Auburn that are links on the NORG site were built using Picassa's web creation functions. And it's free? (THANKS to Don Clink for the info!)
HOW DO I SHOW MY EMAIL ADDRESS ALONG WITH MY USERNAME? You can LogIn on the Forum, and select PREFERENCES. On this page Members can add optional information such as their City,State, Country; Occupation; Hobbies: list a Homepage; list AOL Instant Messanger Handle; Signature; "Make Email Address viewable to others;" and even change the number of Default Topics shown on a page. WHEN others click on your profile, they will see this information.

Is converting from a 6 volt system to 12 difficult and what may be involved ?
I have a newer 6 volt battery but when starting she just turns over very slowly. Are there perhaps stronger six volt batteries that I should try.
Love the car and once she gets running is very smooth

A frequent reason for slow turning over is that the cables are too small of a diameter (or maybe too long if you relocated the battery). Modern auto parts stores don't realize that 6 volt cars need larger diameter cables. Another problem is poor grounds, are all of yours clean? Put an extra ground strap from the starter to the frame, you can't get too many grounds. Let us know the results.

Don't forget the obvious charge the 6V battery to full and take it to local auto parts store and have it checked. Has the car ever cranked over well? DO check and clean all connections including the starter switch and the starter motor connection to the oil pan, the battery ground at the U-joint cover.

Smitty,
These old Fords were driven all over the world with 6V + ground and they started okay.
There are lots of item to check for poor starting issues.
Is the starter a reasonably fresh rebuild? If so, did the rebuilder paint the face of the starter that meets the engine housing?
Do you have a ground strap from the engine to the body firewall?
Are all the connections to the engine fire wall free of paint and corrosion?
Are the battery pos. and neg. cables in good condition and the correct size? (cables for 6 volt are much larger than those needed for 12 volt
Is you battery the correct size and in good condition? (Have it load tested at a battery seller.)
My '46 Coupe with a 59AB engine was slow to turnover when starting, until I corrected some of the item I listed above. Now it starts as good as my new vehicles.

A 6volt optima battery works well; 800cca; just got one at NAPA,$237.00, make sure your cables are for 6volts

Cars of the 6 volt era do crank slower than the later 12 volt cars. Maybe you are just not used to hearing the slower cranking? Whenever I hear my friend starting one of his 6 volt Chevrolets, it sounds to me like it's turning too slow to fire. But then they always do start.

But all the advice above is spot on. Common possible problems. 6 volt draws twice the current to do same amount of work, so needs good electrical connections.

I’m trying the Optima Battery for now as the existing battery seems inferior.
In disconnecting the cables from the existing battery the positive cable rums to a connection on the side of the axle shaft and the negative cable is connected to the starter.
Are they reversed ??
She wouldn’t turn over at all if they were - correct ??

Actually, I’m probably confused.
This is like a Model A - positive ground, right ?
