Yes it is a torque tube driveshaft. Ford pickups did not go to the open driveshaft until 1942.

The speedometer cable attaches to the drive shaft right next to where it joins the back of the transmission.

Hello 40 Coupe: Thanks again for information. I do have a quick question, Does speedometer cable on this truck attach to transmission, one of front wheels, or elsewhere. Posted also on Truck Discussion. Thanks, John
