FirstRide, It appears you are missing the filler panels between the windshield and A pillar. The windlace is placed behind the cowl kick panel retainer. Originally it was nailed, yes, nailed. I glue the windlace in place.

Can you tell from these pictures if I am missing any parts? The space between the A-pillar and kick panel on each side has no provision to secure the u-channel style windlace - does it just get forced into this space? That doesn't seem right to me but that's why I am asking! Thanks I realize the foam core style windlace was original but since this car is far from original I've had to improvise.

Does this help? The wind lace at the A pillar is under the u-channel that also serves to hold the cardboard panels in place. Mike "Kube" Kubarth

Any chance someone has a photo of the A-pillar, door frame, and B-pillar with trim materials attached? On the coupe I am working with, the customers car has no interior trim in place. Between the books recommended on the forum and what I can tell, it seems like a compact (u-channel style) windlace is pushed onto the metal pieces that are attached at the A-pillar and above the door frame, to finish off the headliner edge. Then, the B-pillar takes the foam core style windlace to the floor, fastened to a tack strip. I am trying to confirm this in order to buy the proper materials, thanks.

Photos attached. Follow Mike's excellent instructions/directions and your windlace installation should look something like this. Good luck and have a nice weekend. Tom

Yes, under the mat and under the carpet... correct.

As always, thank you sir. I assume that, the flattened portion of the windlace (with the core removed) tucks under the floor mat in front and the carpet in the rear?
