might be a common problem with horns, but my original horn sounds great when wired directly to a 6 volt battery, but only spins the disc when installed with original wiring harness. Is there a common culprit for the voltage drop? Thanks for any help

Perhaps poor grounding at the horn button.

I eliminated the horn button ground by running a 14 gauge wire from the horn contact in the switch contact plate at the bottom of the steering column, so it seems to be in the power wiring to the horn itself, right? This is a 59 AB and I recall the starter solenoid is involved, so I'll check that...

I have discovered that the previous owner installed a modern tube coil, but left the dash resister functional...any chance that is affecting the horn voltage?
