Hello, I am having a hard time determining what is correct for the upper rear mounting hole in the hood side panel for my 37. This is where the panel is scr*w*d to the hood hinge. I have four side panels and they are all a bit different, been hacked up over the years. Attached are some photos. I would appreciate if someone could send a simple photo of the correct mounting scheme. My best guess is there is a hole on the top (~.5"), through which a screw is placed and rests upon some sort of metal appendage, that then rest on the hinge lip. Washers are used for shimming the panel to the correct height (from the 1937 Ford Book). Thanks, Gregg

In looking at the picture you posted, The hood side panel you have does not look correct. I've attached a picture of my '37 hood side panel below.

those stamped ribs on your side panel indicates that you do not have a '37 side panel.

Thanks. It looks like there is some little support structure underneath the hole. A screw goes through that structure and fastens to the lip on the hood hinge. I will have to make that structure. Gregg

To trjford8, I could be wrong but I am pretty sure my side panel is correct. I have added a pic of the entire panel. If it is not for a 37, then I don't know what year it would go to? gregg

Your panel looks like a '37 to me but it must have been buggered up by an amateur.... Don't forget that there is fender welting between the fender and the hood side....

Thanks for the additional side view photo. It is a 37 side panel. The first photo was a little confusing looking down from the top.

Yep, it was even bowed out a little. I tell you all (no doubt you already know), getting everything to fit/align correctly on the whole front end assembly is a real bear. I know every nut and bolt pretty well by now (third time). Thanks to all, Gregg
