I believe I am missing the condensor for the clock in my newly purchased 1948 Ford convertible. What part can I substitute the part with, possibly an ignition condensor? Any Ideas?

If your clock is the type wound by an electromagnetic "kicker", you don't need a condenser. We have repaired a number of those over the years. If they don't wind automatically, the usual cause is dirty contact points, or a broken fine wire to the coil. As the clock runs down, the points close, then the coil pulls a lever that winds the clock spring. It happens about every five or six minutes when the clock is in good shape.

Thanks for the reply. The clock works fine after a little cleaning. Had viewed some clocks on E-bay and they appeared to have a condensor on them, although the wiring diagram doesn't show one. Just thought a condensor would extend the point life in the clock
