Are all KC painted black or were they cowl & body color and whats the diff between the 2 diff styles (any pics). ken ct. pm or email. Cant open adobey attachments. thank for any info.

They were intended to be painted black. There are some folks that believe this was not always the case. Still, no proof has ever been offered up to counter the "always black". I do know covers went through at minimum a couple of changes. Prior to mid 1939, the "face" of the cover was rather flat. Then, a contour was designed to the front of the cover to allow a bit more room for the wires. I think, but am not certain, that the three outlets (design) was changed sometime after 1941allowing a bit more room for the harnesses to 'escape".

Thank you Mike , its the rounded type with the 3 outlets and 3 tabs for screws. Ive sold some in the past and were all black ,nobody even asked what color !!! ken ct.

Mike , that GMC pump could be converted to a ford 34 to early 36 pump with a bottom 1/2 change from a 34 to 48 bottom 1/2 or if bolt flange is correct for 34-48 just change the lever for ford cup type. The inlet & outlet holes will be in a diff position unfortunely but could be made to operate on a ford. ken ct.

There's also a kidney cover with two outlets(bottom and side, none on the top). Mounts with three holes just like the others.

I have attached a photo of wire covers from left to right #1 Early 1939 Ford used until sometime in Oct. 39 this is Ford only. #2 1939 - 1940 Ford only. #3 1941 Ford & Mercury. #4 1942 - 1947 Ford & Mercury maybe early 48.

I have attached a photo of a Early 1939 Mercury wire cover part number 99A 14600 this was replaced by the rounded face sometime in Oct. 39 only two openings for wires.

I have attached a photo of two Ford truck wire covers left to right. #1 removed from a 1941 Ford Truck. #2 removed from a 1942 Ford Pickup.
