FORUM RULES: Users agree to these Rules when using Forum.

The site administrator reserves the right to change the terms and conditions of the user agreement without prior notice to the user. It is the responsibility of the user to regularly review the terms of this agreement.

The user agrees to the following terms:

  1. All information that you provide to us for your membership is correct.
  2. You will not use your membership to spam, harrass, or exploit other members in any way.
  3. Vulgar, Abusive, Racist and Sexist Language will not be tolerated.
  4. Commercial-type sales postings will not be allowed.
  5. No mass posting or flooding of the boards is allowed.
  6. No Advertising of parts or cars; no Ebay or business/commercial ads (please use the "Classified" for ads Wanted or For Sale).
  7. VIEWING MULTIPLE TOPICS ON SCREEN: You can choose to see more than 10 Topics at a time ... Log In and choose "Preferences" from the top bar on the Forum page. Scroll down and Change the "Default Topics Returned" parameter to 25 or 50, and save the changes. Since this setting is stored in your browser 'cookies' (if enabled), it seems to use that stored value even if you are not logged in. So, if you use a PC that you haven't logged into the forum from, the setting still seem to remain at the default.
  8. EXTERNAL PHOTO LINKS ON FORUM: You can still use external photo links in your posts on the new forum. They follow the rules of any link in that they have to have the URL link qualified down to the full image file name (example: .jpg). The links will open in a new browser window, the same as an uploaded image attached to a post. Since an image attachment to any post does not display inline with the post, the results are the same. You can use multiple external links within a post. This link is from photos on a site from Don Clink's 'Deuce@75' albums:

    http://donclink.com/deuce_75_1/images/dscn2950.jpg

Using links from photo sites such as Photobucket can help in "size" issue with uploaded attachment files. For best viewing in web browsers, photos should be around the 800x600 pixel range, and probably not more than 1024x768. Most cameras today store HUGE jpg image files, as the default settings are in the 7, 8, 10, and 12Mb image sizes. The image files that are then attached are very large, and the browser can't display the full image size without using the scroll bars. Use the re-sizing functions of your photo editing software to reduce the image to 800x600, which reduces the file sixe and the image load time in the browser. Don uses Google's free Picassa3 software, which is an excellent photo management product. All of the photo albums of the Deuce, Grand National, and Auburn that are links on the NORG site were built using Picassa's web creation functions. And it's free? (THANKS to Don Clink for the info!)
  9. HOW DO I SHOW MY EMAIL ADDRESS ALONG WITH MY USERNAME? You can LogIn on the Forum, and select PREFERENCES. On this page Members can add optional information such as their City,State, Country; Occupation; Hobbies: list a Homepage; list AOL Instant Messanger Handle; Signature; "Make Email Address viewable to others;" and even change the number of Default Topics shown on a page. WHEN others click on your profile, they will see this information.

We leave tomorrow for the two day trip to Franklin TN and the 2022 Eastern National Meet. Look forward to being reminded of what a trip in a 73 year old car is all about. Have done it before, but not since 2019 and the Driftless National Driving Tour.
It sounds like it will be the "8 speed" air conditioning for the week. (four windows down and 4 vent windows open).

But, it will be great to see someplace new and participate with other Early Ford V-8 Club members.
And then there is the two lane. Just love motoring along through the small towns and the 40 minutes at gas stops. ("Hey, my parents had a car just like that!")

Hope you are planning on attending. Tennessee -- Jack Daniels, country music, Bar B Q, beer and V-8 friends!!!!

Bruce,

If we get everything finished for registration, concourse, and trophies and get it all loaded in Carolyn's SUV and the '51 Mercury, we plan to be on the road Sunday morning at 5:00 am. Hoping to be in Franklin early afternoon. We will wait for you. At the bar. Bring cash.

Photo from that same Driftless Tour.

Day 1 completed.
Wind, hail, rain and being lost for 1/2 hour in the rain. Did I mention the wind?
Seems the tour guide (me) did a slight mis-calculation -- and we did 511 miles and 11 hours and 20 minutes of two lane blacktop.
Saw some neat stuff and fought the wind --- yes, there was wind.
If the calculations are correct -- then Monday will only 400 miles.
Remember -- just hold the map up and everything will be downhill.

Day 2 completed.
Made it to the headquarters hotel around 4:45 pm after leaving at 6:10 am.
Not a great day traveling, but driving through Springfield IL on Memorial Day was a breeze.
Found out that it is planting time in Illinois and those moving farm machinery dont exactly fit onto 2 lane roads.
Missed 2 turns because the equipment had previously driven down the 2 lane and knocked down a couple of highway directional signs that we needed to see.
The parking lot already had about 2 dozen V-8s in it and the hotel lobby air conditioning was a welcome relief from 88 degree driving in a flathead Ford.
Yes gas was a bit higher, but we had no problems finding non-ethel and premium.
Look forward to a good nights sleep and not having to wake up before the sun does tomorrow.

Day 3 complete.
Today was warm. Members are arriving. Found a gas station nearby.
Too warm to wash car, water would dry before you could wipe it down. Will try tomorrow morning early.
Registration opened and so did the Your Choice Raffle room. Lots to look at and bid on.
Wednesday is the offical start and there will be things to look for at the swap meet.
This is a big area if your are a country music fan. There are a lot of stars homes around the hotel area.

Day 4 complete.
Still warm -- OK, just hot.
Swap meet started and found some great purchases.
Washed car very early -- before 7 am, and the sun still baked down.
Ran through Operational Check and made the staff laugh when I locked up the brakes. Guess that wasn't a requirement.
Enjoyed the Meet and Greet event.
People are still coming in.
Tomorrow is suppose to be cooler -- but remember, weather is the one thing that you can not control.

Day 5 completed.
Today was check out the swap meet one more time. Had something in sight, but it was in a pile some else was building -- oh well.
Attended the 1935-1936 Ford Parts Difference seminar. Vety interesting. Presented by 4 different gentlemen.
The humidity has finally broken. Assisted in placing the vehicle parking markers.
Welcome Party was great -- good food and a great Nashville band.
Concourse Day tomorrow. Temps are suppose to be cooler.

Great sunset.

Day 6 --- not completed --- but posting early.
Great day for an Early Ford V-8 Concourse.
The layout was well planned and there were Fords, Mercurys and a Lincoln. A 1934 Lincoln KA (I think that is what they were called).
Great weather makes for a great day -- slight breeze and 82 degrees and lower humidity.
Won a couple of Your Choice Raffle items.
Off to the Grande Ole Opry tonight, so that is why this report is early.
Tomorrow is car collection tour day and the awards banquet.
