VIEWING MULTIPLE TOPICS ON SCREEN: You can choose to see more than 10 Topics at a time ... Log In and choose "Preferences" from the top bar on the Forum page. Scroll down and Change the "Default Topics Returned" parameter to 25 or 50, and save the changes. Since this setting is stored in your browser 'cookies' (if enabled), it seems to use that stored value even if you are not logged in. So, if you use a PC that you haven't logged into the forum from, the setting still seem to remain at the default.
EXTERNAL PHOTO LINKS ON FORUM: You can still use external photo links in your posts on the new forum. They follow the rules of any link in that they have to have the URL link qualified down to the full image file name (example: .jpg). The links will open in a new browser window, the same as an uploaded image attached to a post. Since an image attachment to any post does not display inline with the post, the results are the same. You can use multiple external links within a post. This link is from photos on a site from Don Clink's 'Deuce@75' albums:

Using links from photo sites such as Photobucket can help in "size" issue with uploaded attachment files. For best viewing in web browsers, photos should be around the 800x600 pixel range, and probably not more than 1024x768. Most cameras today store HUGE jpg image files, as the default settings are in the 7, 8, 10, and 12Mb image sizes. The image files that are then attached are very large, and the browser can't display the full image size without using the scroll bars. Use the re-sizing functions of your photo editing software to reduce the image to 800x600, which reduces the file sixe and the image load time in the browser. Don uses Google's free Picassa3 software, which is an excellent photo management product. All of the photo albums of the Deuce, Grand National, and Auburn that are links on the NORG site were built using Picassa's web creation functions. And it's free? (THANKS to Don Clink for the info!)
HOW DO I SHOW MY EMAIL ADDRESS ALONG WITH MY USERNAME? You can LogIn on the Forum, and select PREFERENCES. On this page Members can add optional information such as their City,State, Country; Occupation; Hobbies: list a Homepage; list AOL Instant Messanger Handle; Signature; "Make Email Address viewable to others;" and even change the number of Default Topics shown on a page. WHEN others click on your profile, they will see this information.

Good Afternoon:

I'm putting together a 37 Ford Cabriolet for a friend who purchased off someone local. I am fairly convinced I do not have all of the bracing that I need and I am lacking any type of manual that shows how the front of it goes together. I purchased the '37 book available here (nice job on that by the way!). It's helped in some areas of the restoration but unfortunately lacks the detail I need. I see the inner fenders have a channel running diagnal on them. I am curious to know if there is bracing that runs in them? If so I see nowhere on the outer fender that bracing may attach to. Also one theory is that the front of the car is supported by the bumper bracketing. I am a little skeptical of that thought but in restoring a few old cars nothing would surprise me. I would be more than appreciative is someone out here has some firsthand knowledge and wisdom they'd like to impart on a novice early Ford restorer.

HI 37' Cabriolet
I looked at my 37 78,760A
the inner fender panels have a bracket built in, the front fender has a rear fender brace, and there is a strut
in the front that goes from the inner fender brace to the of the front cross member,on each side,
these struts have a fastened bolt that also, are used for the front splash pan,
I would recommend leaving everything fairly loose till you get the hood and cowl lined up,
you will have to move the nose, also attach the grill also holds it together, you might have to lift the body,
check you door gaps, as you go,
take your time,,,,!!! I think this is the worst part of putting the car together,

Ragtopman I very much appreciate the information. It seems documentation wasn't in the forefront of a car makers mind back in 37. Slow is always the key. We just got a '51 GMC pick up back from paint and no one wants to be the first to put a scratch in a fabulous job.

Does the front of the car rest on the bumper braces? Curious... they seem to be out of stock and might be difficult to source.

The front fenders should not rest on the bumper brackets when everything is installed and properly adjusted. The inner fender that mounts to the frame is what supports the front fender. There is a diagonal brace from the inner fender to the chassis gusset in front of the radiator.

There is also a bracket, 78-16094, that is mounted on the chassis behind the front wheel. This bracket locates and supports the outside lower flange of the fender behind the front wheel. This bracket has very little impact on locating the fender vertically.

I see the bumper brackets show up on e-bay quite frequently if you need a set. You could also place a wanted ad in the classifieds on this forum.
