Can anyone shed light on the purpose of the 2 braces (9" to 10" long) (1 in front of driver tire & 1 on the corresponding other side) that bolts to the front fenders & then back to frame rail. Secured by a bolt with a spring on it. Only thing i can think of is providing some flex, anything else? Thank you!

Rick, those should be the supports for the inner fender panel which in turn supports the front fenders. The springs should allow for flexing of the front sheetmetal.
