Does anyone know what these D nuts are for on the Ford Truck Cowls?. Mine appears to never have been used…..just curious..

I have 2 46 (pickup & panel) & 1 47 (pickup), none have that hole & i don't think i have ever seen one that does....with the hood down there would not be much room there.....

On a '40 or a '48? Perhaps a better photo, one that allows a bit more perspective as to where that D nut is?

I have those threaded inserts (?) as well and it appears they have been filled with body filler. I’m also curious as to their intended use. Thank you Frank Jones 1941 Ford 1/2 Ton Pickup
