Found and bought the 1982 issue of Cars & Parts Magazine on ebay. Says it covers 1940 convertible top cage extensively. If so I will share the info with the club and Kube. $5 with shipping was a bargain.

I wonder if anyone has a copy of the article in "cars & Parts" magazine about the 40 Ford convertible? October 1982. "The Convertible Club Coup of 1940" by Bob Stevens.

I've never seen the reprint but can tell you the authentic body parts book from Ford has few illustrations. And yes, that is exactly what the counter person ordered from years ago. The chassis parts books from Ford were much better illustrated.

You probably have bought the reprint. The original has the drawings. Here is a link to an E-Bay listing for one http://www.ebay.com/itm/1940-FORD-CAR-TRUCK-MERCURY-BODY-PARTS-CATALOG-GOOD-ORIGINAL-BOOK-/161812691322?hash=item25acc9b97a&vxp=mtr

Kube can you send me a pic of the cover of the parts book the illustration came from? If its not too much could you give me a pic of the parts listing that is associated with the exploded view you sent also? Thanks in advance, Frank

Hi There Can you send me a pic of the cover of the parts book you are talking about? I just spent another $25 on a blue cover 40 Ford parts book and its the worst thing I ever saw. No way a dealer parts counter can identify parts from this book.. In my technical publications development company we developed parts list with associated illustrations for parts identification and ordering. This book is just a parts listing, totally unusable.

Check with Lebaron-Bonney. If they don't have the bows they can refer you to someone who does have them.
