I'm looking for a sourch for a new dash light switch for my '36. It is the pull-push on-off switch for the instrument lights. Any help will be appreciated.

They are not reproduced. You can use a 35 but the switch will work backward. The 36, 37 and maybe 38?? are nearly identical except for the knob, reproduction knobs are available. MANY original switches do not operate properly. If this is the case with your existing switch you can try to wedge a small piece of rigid plastic between the two electrical terminals. Try to wedge them so they do not angle toward each other and are straight, do not use excessive force. This often will correct the problem.

First off I do not believe 38 passenger car had a toggle switch. I believe 34 was the last year for the toggle. 35-38 have similar push-pull switches. 39,40 and later used similar dash light rheostats so the lights could be dimed. The knob on the rheostat is plastic and matches the other knob colors on the interior. NOS are hard to come by but there are reproductions. Check Dennis Carpenter or Mac's or other suppliers.

My '38 has a toggle switch under the dash left of the steering column. It is connected with the bullet connectors in the factory harness making me believe it is original. I see no other place in the face of the dash where a push/pull switch would be.
