I have a set of script valves mushroom type that measure 4 7/8" long are these the correct length for my motor. Also they are all script can they be used in intake and exhaust ??? ken ct.

Not sure about the length and if you have an 85 or 60HP valve. At one time Ford did make the valves two ways one for exhaust and another for intake, both have the same dimensions. These early valves were marked on the flat face of the valve, with a two letter code plus the Ford script. Later Ford decided to make only the exhaust valve style and did not mark these with the code since the exhaust valve can be used both on the intake as well as the exhaust. The difference between the two valves is the metal composition. A couple of feature of the exhaust valve is it is NOT magnetic plus it does not rust. The intake valves are magnetic and will rust. So if the valves you have are not magnetic they can be used either in the exhaust or the intake or both.

Thanks coupe , they are NON magnetic so they can be use E & I its a 85 HP engine.I assume they are the correct length as they are used with the split guides. ken ct.

Problem is coupe I have full set of valves and guides and only need to replace maybe 2 of each. Its going to spoil the sets I have using 2 of them. Hate to but may have to. ken ct. Again thanks for the info.
