fire wall holes on 33 & 34 cars

What are the two holes on the upper fire wall of 33 & 34 cars used for, they are in line verticality on the left (drivers) side.

I think thay are for mounting the ing. coil on 4 cyl. cars ?

I do not know what the two holes are for, but they are not used on a V/8 car.

34billct, Neither is original. The four-cylinder coil mounting holes are on the right upper center of the firewall, not on the left side. Further all of the original holes were made on flat surfaces for the purpose of seating the fasteners or the grommets. None existed on any of the strengthening 'ribs' stamped into the firewall. Dave

I have seen the same holes on other original cars all v8's and none are in use. still looking for the answer. Thanks Bill

Just to add to the mystery , my 34 has the lower hole but not the upper.

My unaltered 34 firewall has the two holes.
