It was 97 degrees here yesterday and I was dumb enough to take my 49 to a nearby car show where it sat on asphalt for 4 hours. The hood was so hot you couldn't touch it with a bare hand. Left for home about two in the afternoon, and after a mile it started to buck and quit on me. Coasted into a safe neighborhood, got a ride home, and returned in the cool of early evening. It started right up and drove home with no problem. I run and electric fuel pump full time, have the mauual capped off. Assumed it was a fuel delivery problem, but based on this forum, am now wondering if it was the coil. Comments please.

Full time electric pump will not produce vapor lock. Do nothing to it, reproduce the same conditions to make it quit on you again. Immediately open the hood, pull a plug wire, hold it near a head bolt, and crank it over. Watch for the spark. Short orange spark or no spark is not good. You want a strong blue snapping spark. If this doesn't prove to be the problem, then think about fuel delivery again. Alan
