I was wondering if a '39 transmission will fit and work in my '36 sedan? If so are any available? Or, can I use 39 gears in my 36 box?

The best person to ask these questions of is Mac Van Pelt. His contact information is listed on this website under the "Friends" section of the "Links" section.

I remember Mac posted on Fordbarn that he was on vacation. Your answer is simple. Yes a 39 trans will fit your 36 as well as any big V8 from 32 to 40. 39 standard gears (28 tooth cluster) will fit a 36 case (48-xxxx) but not easily fit a 35 case (18-xxxx).

Would '39/40 make my '36 steer better? Are '39 gears buyable today?

I now have a '39 transmission in my thirty-six. Yippee, no more double clutchings.
