This is my first ford older than a 1966, this 41 runs and drives and is pretty much original. My goal is to get it to be a reliable around town driver and as I pick away at issues I start to notice more things. It drives pretty good, got new tires on it, but there are some clunks and rattles underneath and at some point I’d like to start picking away at them. What are the common components I should be looking at on the frame and suspension? I realize that list may be long and it’s a broad question, just looking for a starting point of common things that will need replaced anyway that I should hit first. Thanks in advance!

40cpe gives you some good places to start. Also check the tool tray for a jack, etc. for things rattling and make sure the spare tire is secured in it's mounting bracket.

Suggest you also pick up a copy of the Club's "41-48" book, which can really help if you're not totally familiar with all of the features of your 41 just yet. Go to the dark blue panel on the left of your screen, click on "Online Store", then scroll down and click on "Ford Books". Voila! Good luck with your Tudor. Tom

Thanks for all of the tips! I got under there a little today, I had thought the exhaust was all but gone, it’s old but the pipe is still solid, mufflers are completely shot. Dual exhaust probably installed in the 70s when I think it was painted as well. I had thought the tail pipes rusted off, someone cut them off, I believe they did that when they installed the new gas tank. The exhaust is just laying on the frame and rear end and obviously some of my rattles, I’ll get new mufflers, tailpipes and hangers then we’ll see how much it quiets down.

I have reasonably tight exhaust now, need to get it over the axle, the pipe that was on there wasn't as good as I had thought at first, I am using the pipes off the manifold that were there, new cherry bombs and 3 feet of straight pipe, I stopped a good couple of feet before the axle for now, I'm not driving it much, if any, but don't want to heat up the axle tubes. The exhaust is the bulk of my rattles, I need to pick up some hangers and get it secured.
