Hey Roy! Welcome to the Early Ford V-8 Club. I have always used StaLube SAE 140 GL4 in my '52 three speed tranny. You can find it @ some Nappa stores, or order it through Amazon. Have a good thanksgiving! - F F

Thanks, I read an article about the "yellow metal" which is the synchronizers to be sure to use oil that won't harm them. Roy

Here are my recommendations for oils to use in your transmission: If it is a 3-speed conventional synchromesh transmission use Pennzoil Synchromesh Manual Transmission Fluid which has API GL-3 level performance. If it is a 3-speed transmission with the Borg Warner Overdrive use NAPA SAE 90 GL-1 Gear Oil in both the transmission and the overdrive gearbox - they are interconnected and the fluids used in each will mix. For your differential use a good SAE 80W-90 API GL-5 Gear Lubricant like Pennzoil Gearplus. The GL-5 oil is a Hypoid Gear Oil specifically formulated for the extreme pressures in differentials.
