I have a 1941 Mercury and need to remove the knob. It is brand of clock that has the fuse built into the back of the clock. I took the center screw out but how does the knob come off? Any tips on checking out the clock or repairing?

The knob should just pull off. If it doesn't, use some penetrating oil. If you shake the clock and it runs for a few seconds, you can clean the contact points and use a lantern battery to wind the clock. If it winds and keeps running, use a tuner cleaner and lubricant spray to lubricate all of the pivots or use a needle dipped in 3 in one oil to lubricate the pivot points. If it doesn't run when you shake it, send it out for repair.

I believe the New Haven clock knob unscrews. The Mfg is marked on the rear. Hold the stem with needle nose pliers unscrew by hand.
