I posted earlier that I had just purchased a 47 Ford Super Deluxe--that is almost original. But, it has a plastic gas tank--I have not been able to find any information on the tank, size and if vented? Does anyone have any information on a plastic tank? Thanks.

The plastic tank is not stock. They came with a steel tank which I believe are reproduced.

Bob Drake makes a very good steel tank for the 41-48's.

Harold, the plastic tanks were produced by a company called Tanks which are still in business. That tank holds about two gallons more than stock tank. Some years back I owned a 46 coupe and the stock tank in it was "bad". I replaced it with a "Tanks" unit as it was the only tank available at the time. The new tank worked well in the car and it cured all my fuel issues with the car.

Thanks for the information on the tank from Tanks. I am have dealt with them on a tank for my GTO. Is your tank vented? It appears that mine is vent but there might be a filter of some sort on the end of the vent. Maybe to eliminate gas fumes in the garage. Again, thanks for responding. Harold Harold Legreid

Harold, the Tank's website gives specific instructions on how their plastic tanks are to be installed such as venting and grounding.
