I just purchased a very nice 47 Coupe. It appears to be very close to all original. I would like to learn more about the "Super Deluxe" options etc. Also, wondering about the correct engine color. Any feedback woiuld be welcome. Thank. Harold-AZ

You need to purchase the restoration guide from the Early Ford V8 club. It is a wealth of information.

The book you want is the "1941-48 Ford Book" available from the EFV-8 Club through the Online Store shown on this website. 1946 through 1948 Ford V-8 engines were painted blue at the factory.

Along with The Early Ford V8 club 1941-48 book another source of information is "FORD Closing the Years of Tradition 1946 1947 1948 by Post Era books. Consider also purchasing 1928-48 chassis parts catalogue (green bible). Later on you may also want to consider the 1944-52 body parts catalog.

Harold, before you go "crazy" fixing yours up, take a look at this one. I did this car for a friend. It is a top point, body off restoration. He's selling at no reserve. Sadly, these have little value and my guess, this one will end around $20k. This was a $100k restoration. https://www.hagerty.com/marketplace/auction/1947-Ford-Super-Deluxe/f29ee01e-6925-466e-9fbc-3451d543d85d

Thanks. the engine is dark blue so that is good. However, needs to be touched up. I see Carpenter has the paint.

Mike-Thanks. Actually, my car is very nice. It really needs nothing. My intent when I posted on the Forum was to determine what features were Super Deluxe? One question I have--the car had carpeted trunk boards. Did these come from the factory? The car you are presenting looks good. You mention that your car has extra chrome? Harold

Harold, I have no "dog in the fight" as that is not my car. I had restored that car. No extra chrome on that one but early style.

Harold, there is an Early Ford V-8 Region in the Phoenix area. I suggest that you buy the Restoration book and join the region group. Contact information is on the left column of tis site. I have a copy of the V-8 Album and the article on the 47/48 Fords gives this information on the difference between the Deluxe and the Super Deluxe. The Business Coupe (no back seat) was only available in the Deluxe line and the Sedan Coupe was only available in the Super Deluxe line. Super Deluxe gave you better upholstery, arm rests on both doors, assist loops, horn ring, two ashtrays on the dash, cigar lighter, clock, covered chassis springs, wheel trim rings and carpet inserts in the front rubber floor mat. The rear floor of the Sedan Coupe, Tudor Sedan and Fordoor sedan was the only other carpet in a Ford in 1947. There are many chnges between the early 47 and the last 47 to be built. The Restoration book should help you decide which part of the model year your was built and what is correct for the Concourse. Tom
