It is good to change the oils in the transmission and rear axle every 10,000 miles or so. For the transmission you can use a GL-4 Gear Oil of SAE 90 weight. If you can't find a GL-4 Gear Oil, you can use NAPA GL-1 Gear Oil SAE 90 weight or Pennzoil Synchromesh Manual Transmission Fluid GL-3. For the rear axle you should use a GL-5 Extreme Pressure Gear Oil of SAE 90 weight. Do not use GL-5 oil in the synchromesh transmission as the sulphur in it will attack the copper, brass or bronze parts in the transmission.
