replace original pilot bearing

I just pulled my original 1939 flathead (59 A or 91-A not sure the designation) and don't know if I should replace the original pilot bearing which I believe is brass? Thanks for any advice...

Yes, replace the pilot bushing with an available pilot bearing of good quality.

Original bearings were bronze. Either install a new one or a sealed roller bearing. I have used the sealed bearings for decades with great results. If memory serves it is the same bearing as the front of your generator.
