I just checked and mail carriers are not allowed to accept cash tips --- but they can accept : (from the wonderful Google answer service) " mail carriers working for the United States Postal Service are only allowed to accept snacks and beverages or perishable gifts that are not part of a meal, and small gifts that are no more than $20 in value. " So............if you think it will work............................

"Leave cookies in your mailbox with a note to not leave 3rd class mail back at the post office center." Probably good advice there. I think mail delays are usually at the local level. Mail going to each of us goes through a different distribution center, local office, and local delivery route. Explains the big difference in when we each receive our V8 Times.

trjford8: Mark your calendar --- this will be a first -- you getting the current issue before those of us in the Midwest, or just north of where it is printed and mailed. The good news is that the TIMES is in the mail -- the bad news is that it is in the mail at this time of year. Leave cookies in your mailbox with a note to not leave 3rd class mail back at the post office center.

Nothing received yet in the Bay Area either. Guess all the mail carriers were too busy watching the 49ers clinch the NFC West Division instead of delivering the mail.
