VIEWING MULTIPLE TOPICS ON SCREEN: You can choose to see more than 10 Topics at a time ... Log In and choose "Preferences" from the top bar on the Forum page. Scroll down and Change the "Default Topics Returned" parameter to 25 or 50, and save the changes. Since this setting is stored in your browser 'cookies' (if enabled), it seems to use that stored value even if you are not logged in. So, if you use a PC that you haven't logged into the forum from, the setting still seem to remain at the default.
EXTERNAL PHOTO LINKS ON FORUM: You can still use external photo links in your posts on the new forum. They follow the rules of any link in that they have to have the URL link qualified down to the full image file name (example: .jpg). The links will open in a new browser window, the same as an uploaded image attached to a post. Since an image attachment to any post does not display inline with the post, the results are the same. You can use multiple external links within a post. This link is from photos on a site from Don Clink's 'Deuce@75' albums:

Using links from photo sites such as Photobucket can help in "size" issue with uploaded attachment files. For best viewing in web browsers, photos should be around the 800x600 pixel range, and probably not more than 1024x768. Most cameras today store HUGE jpg image files, as the default settings are in the 7, 8, 10, and 12Mb image sizes. The image files that are then attached are very large, and the browser can't display the full image size without using the scroll bars. Use the re-sizing functions of your photo editing software to reduce the image to 800x600, which reduces the file sixe and the image load time in the browser. Don uses Google's free Picassa3 software, which is an excellent photo management product. All of the photo albums of the Deuce, Grand National, and Auburn that are links on the NORG site were built using Picassa's web creation functions. And it's free? (THANKS to Don Clink for the info!)
HOW DO I SHOW MY EMAIL ADDRESS ALONG WITH MY USERNAME? You can LogIn on the Forum, and select PREFERENCES. On this page Members can add optional information such as their City,State, Country; Occupation; Hobbies: list a Homepage; list AOL Instant Messanger Handle; Signature; "Make Email Address viewable to others;" and even change the number of Default Topics shown on a page. WHEN others click on your profile, they will see this information.

Any recommendations for 6 volt battery maintainer also called battery tender. My ‘50 Ford 4door is driven infrequently, maybe every two weeks.

hey DL,i have 37 fordor 6volt and been using schumacher 6/12volt maintainer. it knows what the voltage of batt. beeing introduced. i have checked many times with multimeter before and after charge. usually 6.4 after over night. 6.3 before. i drive this car most every day in iowa except in winter when sand and salt are on road. thats the only time i use maintainer . i have a good generator which i really should adjust the 3rd brush.i usally turn on my driving lights as to not gurgle a tiny puddle of batt juice. prolly more info than u needed. tom.

I have been using a Deltran p/n 022-0196-DL for about 5 years and it has worked well The battery (5 years old also) appears to be as good as new.

These are great gadgets. I have two 12 volt ones for my RV, which is coming up on 27 years old. Since I've been using the tenders (maybe eight or ten years), the life of the four batteries has been remarkedly better.

So---is there anybody out there who likes Battery Tender?

Got no problems with any of the other brands used by my fellow Club members.

Just curious if Battery Tender is not worth it.

I've used Battery Tender brand maintainers on my 1939 coupe and Model A. They seem to last longer than some of the others, one is at least 12 years old. The 39 has had an Optima battery since 2008, still going strong. I bought a replacement Optima For the 39 two years ago and ended up putting it in the Model A.

Better keep an eye on the battery tenders; I had a schumaker on our 38 conv., with a $250.00 Ford script battery, didn't check it for a while, went into garage could smell something hot, the charger hadn't shut off, boiled the battery dry, refilled it with acidn never would start the car; schumaker said to send it back with $10.00, they would fix it, I junked it, out $250.00

I personally have (4) "Battery Tenders." (1) 12 volt for my '57 Corvette, (1) 6 volt for my '40 ford, (1) 6 volt for my '50 ford, and 1 (12) volt for my Caddy XLR. I lwave them on always, and they never fail me. I did have one fail after about 2-3 years, and I called them . They said to send it back for a credit towards a new one!

I did try another brand once(Schumacher) and over time more than one failed! (JUNK!)

Battery Tenders in my opinion, are the very best!9 Call them in Deland Florida, or buy them in your local!

I'm researching the various brands before purchasing one in the next few months. I may put it off a little longer and ask Santa to bring me one.
