VIEWING MULTIPLE TOPICS ON SCREEN: You can choose to see more than 10 Topics at a time ... Log In and choose "Preferences" from the top bar on the Forum page. Scroll down and Change the "Default Topics Returned" parameter to 25 or 50, and save the changes. Since this setting is stored in your browser 'cookies' (if enabled), it seems to use that stored value even if you are not logged in. So, if you use a PC that you haven't logged into the forum from, the setting still seem to remain at the default.
EXTERNAL PHOTO LINKS ON FORUM: You can still use external photo links in your posts on the new forum. They follow the rules of any link in that they have to have the URL link qualified down to the full image file name (example: .jpg). The links will open in a new browser window, the same as an uploaded image attached to a post. Since an image attachment to any post does not display inline with the post, the results are the same. You can use multiple external links within a post. This link is from photos on a site from Don Clink's 'Deuce@75' albums:

Using links from photo sites such as Photobucket can help in "size" issue with uploaded attachment files. For best viewing in web browsers, photos should be around the 800x600 pixel range, and probably not more than 1024x768. Most cameras today store HUGE jpg image files, as the default settings are in the 7, 8, 10, and 12Mb image sizes. The image files that are then attached are very large, and the browser can't display the full image size without using the scroll bars. Use the re-sizing functions of your photo editing software to reduce the image to 800x600, which reduces the file sixe and the image load time in the browser. Don uses Google's free Picassa3 software, which is an excellent photo management product. All of the photo albums of the Deuce, Grand National, and Auburn that are links on the NORG site were built using Picassa's web creation functions. And it's free? (THANKS to Don Clink for the info!)
HOW DO I SHOW MY EMAIL ADDRESS ALONG WITH MY USERNAME? You can LogIn on the Forum, and select PREFERENCES. On this page Members can add optional information such as their City,State, Country; Occupation; Hobbies: list a Homepage; list AOL Instant Messanger Handle; Signature; "Make Email Address viewable to others;" and even change the number of Default Topics shown on a page. WHEN others click on your profile, they will see this information.

Don,
My primary goal was recreate our first company vehicle to celebrate our companies 75th anniversary. When I started looking I didn't really care how true to original it was as long as the exterior looked the same as the photo of the first company vehicle. I was actually hoping to find one with more modern running gear as we plan on driving it and taking it to company events and job sites in Southern California and Northern Nevada. As I am sure you are aware of there are not a lot of 35/36 Sedan Delivery's out there. So when this one came up for auction I jumped on it and bought it without being able to actually look at it. The previous owner had done a decent job of restoring it to mostly original. the main exceptions are the brakes have been upgraded to hydraulic 1939 brakes and the fenders are fiberglass. So its not going to be a show car but since it is in good shape and close to original I would like to keep it that way.

Briggs, I know that you would like comments on correctness for your 36 Sedan Delivery, but I need to know your plans for the restoration. I know you want to make the delivery like the original one shown in the photo. Are you going for close enough or an exact replica of the original vehicle?

Here is a spec sheet from DeAngelis' The Early Ford As Henry Built It. This will give you an idea of some of the changes that will need to make.

While we are on the topic of colors what about wheel color. They are currently red but should they be to body color? the hub caps are chrome with black outer ring. Is this correct?

Thanks for the info. I'll keep looking for a sample of Beneton Gray. I was able to find a finish carpenter to cut out and replace the necessary sections. He was able to do it without replacing all of the door frame.

I love the original car in the attachment. Go for it.

I am not all that familiar with the benton gray color, so best I not comment on it. Hopefully someone else on this forum can validate (or not) the color.

BTW, on my rust bucket 37 SD, my back door wood as rotted out too. I connected with a guy in Oregon who does wood repro for SDs. Not sure if he has done 36 SDs or not. Heck, the rear door may be identical to a 36??? They look very similar. Some of the interior wood surrounding my rear door was also rotted and he hooked me up with all that I needed. I can give you his info if interested.

Definitely Black. Thanks. I recently purchased my 36 Sedan Delivery that had been restored about 11 years ago to what appears to me to be mostly stock. The exterior was Tacoma Cream and the interior is kind of a Taupe greenish color. (See the link below for some pictures from the auction). I am trying to recreate my companies first vehicle (See attachment) so I am changing the exterior to Washington Blue and I am trying to decide if I should change the interior color. The interior paint is also in decent shape so if it is right or at least close I wont change it. I assumed that since the exterior was a correct color for 36 that the interior was also correct. I have not been able to find a sample of Benton Gray Metallic to compare it to. The exterior paint was ok with what appeared to be just a few problem areas. Of course once we started trying to make repairs it was much worse. Not a lot of rust but a lot of filler and the doors needed a lot of welding to keep them straight and the wood on the rear door frame was rotted out. If you could look at the link and let me know if that looks like Benton Gray I would appreciate it.

The info I mentioned is from page 163 of "The Early Ford V8 AS HENRY BUILT IT" book. There is also a nice picture of the front seat area interior. It shows the black steering column and other details.

Briggs, Here is an image from a 1936 Truck Dealer Album showing the Benton Grey Dash and black steering column and wheel.
