I'm installing a electric clock in my 37 club cabriolet and not sure where to attach the wires that are attached to the clock. Does anybody have any info on this topic? Thanks, jakes

The clock wire should be attached to a source that is hot when ever the battery is connected. This can be at the fuse for the lights or the hot wire to the ignition switch.

HI this may help I have a 1937 electric clock. with original wiring, wiring coming out of it is about 32 inch long, it has 2 ends. one coming out of the back of clock is about 10 inches long, thinking this a GROUND,? other may have been attached to a hot lead, on the fire wall this would be a constant hot terminal with a fuse,? like going to the light switch, I enclosed a photo of what I have, hope this helps regards 1937 RAGTOPMAN

Be aware that Ford typically fused their electrical accessories that are not part of the lighting circuit (The light circuit had it's own fuse from the factory). The radios, road lights, clocks etc. The cigar lighter is an exception most likely due to the large amount of current it drew. I can not speak for the 37 clock installation. In 35 the electric clock made by Borg has a small metal case fuse block in line with the power lead going to the wire on the fuse block coming from the battery. You may want to explore this further since the above photo of an original clock with some of the original wiring could be missing the fuse enclosure. Since the electric clock in 35 & 36 was only an accessory they came with instructions included in their packaging . In part year production of 37 the clock was factory installed and installation instructions would not have been included with the vehicle. You may want to contact the 37 advisor. Good luck.

Thanks all of you for your advice. I have attached a photo of the clock I am installing. It also is a Borg clock and does have a 6 amp fuse built in. In the photo there are three wires coming off the clock, one to the battery (has eyelet end), another wire to the ground (also eyelet end), and the third wire is for the lamp. When all was hooked up the lamp worked but the clock didn't. Now I have to decide if I want to send the clock out for repairs or not. Again, I really appreciate the help all of you provided. Jakes

If you don't fix the clock it will still tell the right time twice a day.

Jake: again the 35 Borg clock winds by an solenoid inside the clock body. When the clock main spring winds down an electrical contact closes and allows the solenoid to energize. Often the contact needs to be cleaned. Can use contact cleaner sprayed on white paper and draw the wet paper through the contacts. Worth a try.

40 Coupe, so that's something I will try. I removed the clock from the housing that holds it in the glove box door and examined how to open up the clock. Could not see how to open without damaging it so I stopped there. How do I get to the contacts to use the spray cleaner. Thanks!!!

Don't know if this helps but my '47 uses a stock 3 amp glass tube fuse in a metal twist-lock holder located about 6 inches before the clock. I found they don't make 3 amp any more but did find a 2 amp glass fuse and it works fine. I think a 5 amp will fit too. My clock comes apart by prying back the crimps on the front body that hold the front trim piece on. While I had it apart I repainted the interior white paint to brighten the light up.

Mine also takes a 3 amp fuse which is good. I'll try prying the clock apart and let you know how it turns out. Good idea about painting the interior! Thanks!!
