There is a good amount of information on installing the T5 on Fordbarn and the HAMB. Here's one on installing a T5 while keeping a torque tube/banjo rear. https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showthread.php?t=206955&highlight=T5+TORQUE+TUBE

Thanks for the information. This could be a monumental task. More research may be required.

Cornhusker Rod Shop has all the adapters, etc. to do the job. The owner of the shop posts a lot on the Fordbarn and uses the screen name Krylon. The shop is in Hebron, Nebraska. If it was me and I wanted a little more speed I would look closely at a Mitch*ll overdrive. a lot easier to install. Just make sure you have the brakes to stop it.

Thanks for the help. My goal is to install a T5 with stock pedal and linkage assembly plus open driveline. Uncertain about hydraulic clutch setup. It appears substantial modifications on frame are required. Trying to find a balance of improved road ability, reliability and safety. Also considering a 1939 Transmission setup. What would you recommend for rear end gear ratio? Thanks Marty

With the T-5 I would recommend 3.78 or near that number. If You go the open drive route you will need a Maverick or 65-66 Mustang 8" rear end. They are narrow and fit under the '34 just right. You can mount those rears on parallel leaf springs and they ride great. If you decide to use the parallel leaf set up, Chassis Engineering had the perfect set up as it is a bolt in kit. The problem is they are going out of business and selling off inventory. If this is what you want to do I would contact them ASAP to see if they still have a kit in stock. Yogi's also has some of the CE inventory and may have a kit. If you are sticking with the torque tube drive and '39 transmission I would look at two options. One is a set of 3.54 rear gears, or look at the Mitch*ll overdrive unit. Personally I think the Mitch*ll is the best option. Probably not much more than the T-5 switch and way less work. The Mitch*ll can be installed with no frame modifications. I know people with the Mitch*ll unit and all are very happy.

Thanks for the info. Too bad about CE; they were excellent to work with. I plan on keeping a open drive line. Would like to see some pictures of a T5 in a Flathead Ford to try to gain a better idea with what I am dealing with. Marty
