I'm sure that more than one old '48-'52 Ford truck had hood ornaments added, so it won't look out of place. My truck, a '51, had a hood ornament when I got it. Back then, for some reason, people loved hood ornaments.

Thanks guys, no Ford hood ornament offered is what I thought but it never hurts to ask. Since my truck is not a concourse candidate, I may put on back on just to remind me of how it was when I got it.

Ford did not offer a hood ornament for the 48-52 trucks. The 49-51 Ford car hood ornament was a popular choice to use as it had the same curve as the truck hood. There were many aftermarket ornaments offered then as it was a popular thing to do. Barry 50 F-1

My dad had a 51 F-1 in the late 50's. He mounted a chrome cormorant bird on the hood that had orange plastic wings. When you turned on the headlights the wings would light up. I think it was a Western Auto accessory.

I can't find one in the truck parts book, but that doesn't mean there wasn't one available. It would have been dealer installed. Also, the car ornament could have been mounted on the truck. Looking at the car parts book, it appears that there was an optional ornament for the car. Or one could have been taken off of a wrecked car, or it could be after-market. It shouldn't be to tough to do a neat installation. Why did we like hood ornaments so much back then? In about about 1956, I bought and installed a new, factory hood ornament for my '49 Crosley station wagon. Richard

Has anyone seen a 51 pickup "Deluxe option" Five Star cab with a hood ornament just like a 48 car ornament? My original truck had what appeared to be a bone stock 48 Ford passenger car hood ornament and it fit the hood contour perfectly. When I repainted the hood I deleted the ornament-but upon disassembly in paint prep I was surprised to discover the installation sure looked factory quality. Even a dealer installed option would look "homemade" I would think. Just curious if anyone knows if the hood ornament was ever offered. Thanks again for the assist.
