The speedometer is frozen at 10 mph, on my 49 Mercury I have lubricated the cable and it turns in the housing when I am driving. The odometer works but speedometer does not. Before I remove it from the dash. Does anyone have some words of wisdom.

It sound like you will have to send the speedometer in for repair.

I agree with TomO. I'd suspect that the shaft holding the magnetic disks has worn out. For some reason. most speedometers were designed to use the pot mental body without bushings. Bob's Speedometer will look at it and give you an estimate of repair cost. Their web site is www.bobsspeedometer.com

Thank you both for the info. Sending it out for repair sounds like the best plan. Thanks again
