I just received a new fuel line from C&G Early Ford Parts for my 41 Mercury and it is copper coated steel tubing. The tubing I removed is not copper coated but looks like steel. So my question is which is correct?
Thank you, Bill

I appreciate your response I thought what I was removing was original but it most likely has been replaced sometime in the past.
Thank you, Bill

I uncoiled the new fuel line and it was shorter than what I removed. I measured them both and the new one is 144" and the old one is 153". I called C&G and they said they would check it out and get back to me, they called me back today and said that according to their supplier they are all suppose to be 144". I don't have the tank in the car yet and was wondering if this shorter fuel line would work
Thank you, Bill

Hard to say as it's 9 inches shorter. Many people have ordered this line from C and G and I haven't seen any complaints. It's possible that your line had an extra bend in it that was not needed. The motor in the Merc should sit in the same place as the Ford, but I've never actually taken a measurement.

We have installed C&G fuel lines without a problem. We try to route them away from any exhaust parts, particularly if the car has duals.

I had the same problem with my 40 Mercury. The Mercury body may have some differences from the Ford that requires the longer fuel line. Ford supplied the line in 25 foot rolls to accomodate the different cars. Roy Nacewicz had the 25 ft rolls at one time and Narragansett Reproductions had it also.

As I recall, the Mercurys had a slightly longer wheelbase, which may extend the distance from the tank to the firewall, but my catalogs show the same part number.

Bob, the Mercs are 4 inches longer in the wheelbase. The extra inches are from the firewall forward. The unknown could be whether or not the motor is futher away from the firewall. If the Merc and the Ford share the same length driveshaft/torque tube then there is no difference in the length of the gas line as the motor sits in the same location..

Tom, yes, I believe the Mercury torque tube is longer than is the Fords. The part number for the 25' roll of tubing carried a 91A prefix, and was enough for two cars. I suppose though, that would mean a Ford and a Mercury!
