Like Jay, a NOS condenser is questionable at best. A couple of years ago I went through my entire stash of NOS condensers, testing each and every one of them. There were approximately fifty pieces. Out of the 50, about six were within spec. I prefer Hunt's Magneto condensers. Specifically, their 3210M model. A little pricey perhaps but in all the years I have used them (a LOT of them) I'd never had a slightest issue. These are not concourse correct. I do a little modifying utilizing an authentic Ford script "case" so they appear correct. I have heard the NAPA piece is usually good. Usually, not always. www.huntmagnetos.com

Those condensers have not been reproduced. VanPelt must have NOS or used originals. I would not trust either to function properly. I have read that condensers have tissue paper insulator sheets inside that can break down over time, just sitting on a shelf. For functionality, the IH200 is probably the best bet.

Van Pelt Sales sells condenser part #78-12300 which is correct for your stock '40 Ford.

What is the best condenser and part number I can purchase for a stock 40 Ford? I have heard an IH200 from NAPA is very reliable?
