Just curious why the '40 Ford clock face plate is a sort of trapezoidal shape instead of a true rectangle. Anybody know the story? Was it to give it a certain perspective to make it easier to read from the drivers' seat?

the clocks were made by two different manufacturers. New Haven and Westclox. New Haven has the rectangle face and Westclox has the other face. There is also a difference in the in the number and placement of the face mounting screws.

I knew about the 2 manufacturers, but my question was more about what was the REASON behind making the oblique faceplate to begin with? Maybe no one knows for sure, since clocks are not much of a topic of conversation.
