I have recently rebuilt a V8-60 engine and mounted it on an engine run test stand. The engine fires up immediately and runs great before suddenly shutting down after about 5 minutes of running at 2,000 to 2,500 RPM. What is the most likely cause of this? After the five-minute run the oil pressure is about 50 PSI and the coolant temperature is between 180 and 190 degrees F. The engine cranks readily with the starter motor after the run but won't restart until allowed to cool down for a few minutes.

I recommend that you pose your question under the general discussion category as you'll likely receive more responses there.

You have a classic symptom of a bad coil.

Check your spark, if the coil is bad, you will have a weak spark.
