Thanks again. Will this special nut that I made tonight be close enough for a spare?

Thank you, I,m working on a fastener order for them but I,ll machine an emergency spare. If I use the diameter between the peaks of a conventional hex nut will I be close to the round diameter?

Thank you, I now understand. Unfortunately there is not an original 32 v/8 close to me that I could look at. I will now machine one. Henry must have made extra money selling specialized screw drivers through his parts dept. He was a crafty business man! I wonder how many of his tool pouch screw drivers were altered? Also would you loose points? Something to think about.

The nut is not much taller than the stud on the coil, slotted on top, and smooth on the outside. You will need to cut a notch in the blade of a cheap flat blade screw driver to clear the stud on the coil when tightening.

Does the thread go through the entire nut & the slot crosses the thread ? It must be as tall as the 8-32 stud or slightly taller so a screw driver will tighten the nut. thanks,

Round, slotted, and threaded special nut made of brass, at least double in height of a hardware store 8-32 square or hex nut.
