I need to replace the radiator on my stock 1941 Ford V-8 tudor. Local radiator wants $785 to recore my radiator. Maximum cooling ability is the highest prioity, next is price although quality is more important. Prefer buying outside of Calif. to avoid sales tax. I am a member of the EFV-8 Club, region 4 Sacramento.

That quote to recore is probably more than obtaining a whole new unit. I'd shop around before I went that way. Most that I've seen run about $600. You can try sources such as Walker Radiator's site, and there are others. The last we ordered took over seven weeks from order to delivery, as they usually are made to order.

Usually about November Speedway Motors( Lincoln, Neb.) runs a sale on Walker radiators. There is no tax and free shipping. The Walker does not have the split core, but it does the job. I would also recommend some Skip's pumps or the new pumps by Drake to aid in cooling.

I would try finding another radiator shop. You may find a shop that will recore your radiator for about the same price as a reproduction.
