Can someone tell me where on the inside of the 41 Woodie where the tailgate assist spring is attached to I see where on the tailgate itself is but not on the inside. Thanks

There is a bracket that screws onto the wood piece that is over the passenger side fender well. The bracket is flat about 1/8" thick and is curved to the contour of the wood and has threaded holes to accept a "stud" that spring hooks onto. The reason the holes are threaded is to adjust the "stud" to change the spring tension if necessary.

Thanks for the information. I don't think anyone makes that bracket,Carpenter makes the spring. Is it possible you could take a picture of it and the location and I could reproduce one? Thanks again

I can Take a picture of it but I don't know how to post it. I can remove mine and make a tracing of it and send it to you. You are right in that no one reproduces it. It is a fairly easy part to make but the demand is low. Let me know if you want a tracing of the part.

The bracket is about 1/2 inch wide, curved, and about 12 inches long. It has a stud in the middle to attach spring to. It goes just above the wheel well.

One thing that should be added, and hopefully the sketch will show, is that the bracket is fastened to the wood member above the wheel house with several oval head painted wood screws.

I will go out to the garage this PM and fabricate a print for you. If all goes well I will put it in the mail tomorrow. Checked the directory and see your address.
