I can not determine from the photo the exact location of the hole but if the exhaust gases are entering the engine valley it could cause pressure build up in the block leading to oil leakage from the rear main. The cars used an aluminum manifold and the commercials may have a cast iron intake manifold if yours is aluminum consider having the hole welded since it is on the valley side of the intake. Cast iron can also be welded. The 36 intake is unique to 36 see the restoration book.

Roger, that's an exhaust burnout from the heat riser. Good manifolds are not scarce, post in the classified section as advised.

does any one know where I can find a intake manifold for a 36. I have been fighting a oil leak out the rear main and tried every thing. As last resort I decided to pull the engine and I found a hole in the manifold on the bottom, it is made out of alum. Roger Oliver 515-231-2500
