I now see what I will be doing Sunday. Thanks, your explanation was easier to understand than the service guide.

Pull all the hubs and drums and inspect both the drums and the linings. If the drums are scored, they should be turned to restore the brake surface. If any the the linings are worn, replace all of them. The best linings for mechanical brakes are the woven type. Check the brake wedges. If badly worn, replace them.. Then you re ready to adjust them. Back off all the adjusters. Raise the wheels off the ground, and with the brake pedal blocked halfway done, adjust the clevises at each wheel so the pins easily slip into the clevis at the brake levers. This will make sure all rods are equalized. Release the pedal and adjust each wheel with the adjuster until the lining just touches the drum. Never adjust the brakes using the rod clevises. Assuming your brake cross shaft is in good condition, you should be able to effective brake your car, and slide all wheels in a panic stop.

My 34 Tudor has developed a grabby right front brake. I backed the adjustment screw out one half turn but no change. Am I doing the right thing? Thanks for your thoughts. Steve
