46 Rear Track Bar Removal

Should the rear wheels be off the ground to remove the track bar for bushing swap-out or does it not make a difference? Thanks. Steve

We usually jack up the rear end and put it on stands to give plenty of room to work. The main aim is to take tension off the track bar to make the job easier. The guys from Chassis engineering came over to see and measure the track bar on my '47. They told me the proper name is "panhard bar". Any way, that's what they call it in their catalog.

Super: The folks at CE used the correct technical "Tea-Cupper" sporty-car term. Us farmers (and I believe Ford), call it a track bar.

Actually, I'd say the "sway thingy" is on the front aka stabilizer. Ford does, in fact, use the term "tack bar" for the rear bar although I have seen it called "panhard" as well elsewhere.
