what is the function of the cylinder baffle below the fuel pump adapter down push rod? thanks.

Mitch, That baffle keeps all those wild horses from jumping out. It also may help in keeping oil from splashing out too.

Mitch, if you try to run the engine without the baffle, you will see most of your oil all over the engine compartment. Its purpose is to keep the oil for the camshaft and valves in the engine.
