On page 2-3 of the V8 Club's 1941-48 Ford Book it says, "2. For a nominal charge, Deluxe models could be purchased with outside of wheels painted body color but not striped." and "3...It is commonly believed that, on special order, it was possible to choose from other currently available stripe colors". So, if your car is a Super Deluxe, I think you need the stripes, but you can have any color stripes you want. If it's a Deluxe and your wheels are body color, you shouldn't have stripes.

I got gigged on my '47 Ford at St. George 'cause my wheels weren't striped. I've seen them both ways. 1st question: How does anyone know that ALL wheels in 1947 were striped? I haven't found anything authoritative on it. 2nd question: If I decide to stripe the wheels, what color for maroon wheels? and what is the best way to do it? Still Old Henry
