The fender flange bolts up against the inner splash apron, not overlapped. The welting goes between the fender flange and the inner splash apron. When the side panels are installed, the welting bead will be on the outside. I think the 37 welting ran from the runningboard along the fender to the grill, then a seperate piece was used for the grill.

Roy Nacewicz sells the correct welting and if you give him a call he will probably be able to help you in the correct placement. http://www.fordscript.com/ Tom

Hello Zeeker, iam also restoring a 1937 Ford (Discussion: Help 37 Ford) and need welting myself. If you know where to get the appropriate welting for the front/rear fenders incl. dimensions, i would be much obliged to hear from you, Regards fordson

I'm rough fitting my front fenders, inner aprons, & hood side panels. The 1937 Book says there is welting from the grill to the running boards, a picture would have been great. With the fender overlapping the apron this would put the 3/16 bead on the inside. If on top between the fender flange and hood side the welting is exposed with the hood side off and there is no anti-squeek between fender and apron. Any info would be appreciated, also the car came with an extra chrome knock off grill the bottom 4" or so of the curve is off about an inch original (rough) fits good. Anyone with this problem ? Thanks Zeke
