I am considering an overdrive for my '35. Is there a consensus on the best option? I need to rebuild the transmission anyway, figured this would be the best time.

Maybe the best thing to do is to replace the current transmission with a Borg-Warner T5 5-Speed manual transmission. This requires quite a bit of work but could prove to be the most reliable solution. The best of the T5's to use were originally installed in Chevy S10 Pickup trucks and their GMC siblings. The gear ratios used in these gearboxes and the position of the shift levers make them ideal for use behind a Flathead V-8 Ford. These gearboxes are available with several different overdrive ratios for the fifth gear.

Other options would be a Columbia 2 speed rear end or a Mitchel overdrive. Both pricey but that doesn't address the trans rebuild issue.

I would like to find out exactly what's involved with replacing my transmission with the the T5 5 speed Borg warner.. This does sound like a good option. Where can I find enough information to decide if I can do it? Many thanks.
