Hello, The 41 drives great when moving. Parking is difficult. It does have Diamond Back radials. Is there a way to add power steering? Or would bias ply tires help.

If you are willing to go to a 12V electrical system and give up having a steering column mounted shift lever, an electrical power steering system may work best for you.

The trick to parking is to turn the steering wheel while the car is moving slowly. It takes a little more room to make a turn, but it can be done with one hand once you get the hang of it. Keep practicing and you will find it second nature. I never turn my steering wheel unless the car is moving. I learned to drive before power steering was available, so it is easy for me. It helps to have a little higher pressure with the radial tires (32-34 PSI) and the age of the tires can make it harder to turn the steering wheel. Check to see that your tires are under 10 years old.

Tom, you said what I was going to say. Young adults today have never experienced a car without power steering, so they never learned that lesson all us old timers just take for granted.

In response to one of your original questions, bias ply tires will make steering more difficult. Ken

Ken raises a good point. Get radial tires and you will find it turns easier.

Depending upon your skill set, you can install an electric power steering system in your old Ford on the cheap by following the information shown in this video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oRNOmAqsVLg
