46 engine replacement

Removed the engine due to the fact that the 2 of exhaust manifold bolts snap off. Unable to remove them with easy outs. Have the new headers attached to the engine and getting ready to reinstall the engine. I left the bellhousing attached to the block. Any helpful hints on reinstalling? Thanks tom

Since you removed the engine, have you disturbed the location of the clutch disc within the pressure plate? If so, you should make sure the disc is centered within the pressure plate so the engine will more easily line up with the transmission. It is best to do this engine installation job with a helper who can help with getting the engine and transmission lined up. It helps to have the front of the engine located higher than the rear of it by a more than a foot. Use of an engine hoist makes this job easier than just using a block and tackle.

First I would try again to get the broken stud/bolts out of the block. If not out and replaced you have a huge potential for exhaust leaks. If the engine is out I would take it to a good machine shop and have them remove the broken bolts. It would be money well spent especially with using headers.

Thanks. Made sure I did not disturb the placement of the clutch or pressure plate.

That was my thought as well. Should have it back from the machine shop mid-week. Have a good hoist as well.
