How do you repair horns. They click but do not honk.

try this, did you remove the horn covers and clean the points, also make sure your wiring contacts are clean and tight, I would use a seperate wire directly from the battery to the horn, using a jumper lead for the hot wire and another jumper lead for the ground, directly to a good ground, and see if this makes a difference, if it does it could be the horn relay , or a wiring problem go over the system with a volt meter, and see if youhave enough voltage,, did you try it with thw motor running, does you generator put out enought volts, like 7 plus I would use 320 wet and dry emery paper to clean the points, on the horns, hope this helps, 37Ragtopman

ragtopman gives good advice. One of the horns on '46 Coupe didn't work, so I checked with an ohmmeter between the horn body and the lead wire, and found no continuity. I removed the cover. cleaned the points and it worked like new. Looking at the picture, the points are just to the right of the brass adjusting nuts. It may be a silly question, but, is it the horn you hear that clicks, or is it the horn relay?
