All good suggestions noted above. Generally, if an engine just "runs out of power" under load, the issue is fuel related. If the engine is "running rough" then look at ignition/electrical items. Vacuum gauge readings is an excellent troubleshooting tool. I have a "Skip" coil and a "Tubman" capacitor on my stock 59AB engine in my '46 Coupe, with thousands of miles travelled and great reliability. Also, I had Charlie NY rebuild my carb and fuel pump. He corrected two issues that were causing poor performance, them being; wrong sized main jets, and the fuel pump discharge pressure was too high. He corrected both, and ran the pair on his test engine before returning them. Bolted them on and didn't even need to adjust idle speed or idle mix screws. If you find that your coil is defective and you want to use a modern tubular type of coil, you can purchase a coil adapter, a modern coil and a coil mounting bracket from one of the vendors. Dennis Carpenter is one of the vendors who offers the coil adapter and a modern coil to replace your original 3-bolt coil. https://www.dennis-carpenter.com/product_search/?globalfilter%5Bcustom1%5D=Car&globalfilter%5Bcustom2%5D=1935&globalfilter%5Bcustom4%5D=&q=coil+adapter

The photo that shows the coil shows the coil to look very old. All my V8 Club members have had Skip Haney in Florida rebuild our coils. If your coil is not rebuilt, or you don't know, get a rebuilt from Skip. My V8 starts with a touch of the starter button even in 90 degree temps.

Check everything CarCrazy suggested. Can you post another picture from the drivers side of the engine? It looks like you have a later model fuel pump with some dubious rubber lines. You may need to check the amount of fuel being received at the carb. Bits of rubber line or rust from the fuel tank can restrict the jets and internal passages in the carb. The car will idle but not have enough fuel to accelerate or run at cruise speed. I have seen some replacement carbs with very small jets (#36). You should have around a #49- #51 jet.

Make sure the accelerator when fully depressed opens the carburetor throttle fully. There is an adjustment to the Stromberg to open the power valve at the proper stroke of the throttle.

Could be any of the following: Starved for fuel due to one or more of the following: fuel pump leak at gasket which seals pump cover to housing or glass bowl to pump housing, leak in fuel lines between tank and pump - this could be a vacuum leak which might not show signs of fuel leakage, partial blockage of fuel line or dirt in fuel tank or lines or blockage of fuel tank vent. Blockage of air cleaner restricting flow of air into the engine. Blockage of exhaust system due to rust or other debris in exhaust manifolds, pipes or muffler(s). Weak spark due to incorrect point gap, failing coil or failing condenser (capacitor). Old or poor fuel quality. To better pinpoint your problem, use a vacuum gauge to determine if you have a healthy engine - reading should be steady and about 19" during idle at sea level. Use a compression gauge to see if all of the cylinders are about equal in compression and have at least 80 psi of pressure at cranking RPM - allow about 6 revolutions before taking each reading. Make sure the choke and throttle plates are fully open when checking compression.

If you remove the air cleaner, look down in, and move the throttle rapidly with your hand, does the accelerator pump squirt? That probably where I would start.

Just got this last summer. It starts easily, runs at low RPM well but when I gets up a little in RPM, it seems to hesitate and not want to rev higher. Fuel, tank, electric pump all good. Carb seems new and good but unknown. See images. 1. Possible/common issues related to symptoms? 2. First thing to check and next?
