FORUM RULES: Users agree to these Rules when using Forum.

The site administrator reserves the right to change the terms and conditions of the user agreement without prior notice to the user. It is the responsibility of the user to regularly review the terms of this agreement.

The user agrees to the following terms:

  1. All information that you provide to us for your membership is correct.
  2. You will not use your membership to spam, harrass, or exploit other members in any way.
  3. Vulgar, Abusive, Racist and Sexist Language will not be tolerated.
  4. Commercial-type sales postings will not be allowed.
  5. No mass posting or flooding of the boards is allowed.
  6. No Advertising of parts or cars; no Ebay or business/commercial ads (please use the "Classified" for ads Wanted or For Sale).
  7. VIEWING MULTIPLE TOPICS ON SCREEN: You can choose to see more than 10 Topics at a time ... Log In and choose "Preferences" from the top bar on the Forum page. Scroll down and Change the "Default Topics Returned" parameter to 25 or 50, and save the changes. Since this setting is stored in your browser 'cookies' (if enabled), it seems to use that stored value even if you are not logged in. So, if you use a PC that you haven't logged into the forum from, the setting still seem to remain at the default.
  8. EXTERNAL PHOTO LINKS ON FORUM: You can still use external photo links in your posts on the new forum. They follow the rules of any link in that they have to have the URL link qualified down to the full image file name (example: .jpg). The links will open in a new browser window, the same as an uploaded image attached to a post. Since an image attachment to any post does not display inline with the post, the results are the same. You can use multiple external links within a post. This link is from photos on a site from Don Clink's 'Deuce@75' albums:

    http://donclink.com/deuce_75_1/images/dscn2950.jpg

Using links from photo sites such as Photobucket can help in "size" issue with uploaded attachment files. For best viewing in web browsers, photos should be around the 800x600 pixel range, and probably not more than 1024x768. Most cameras today store HUGE jpg image files, as the default settings are in the 7, 8, 10, and 12Mb image sizes. The image files that are then attached are very large, and the browser can't display the full image size without using the scroll bars. Use the re-sizing functions of your photo editing software to reduce the image to 800x600, which reduces the file sixe and the image load time in the browser. Don uses Google's free Picassa3 software, which is an excellent photo management product. All of the photo albums of the Deuce, Grand National, and Auburn that are links on the NORG site were built using Picassa's web creation functions. And it's free? (THANKS to Don Clink for the info!)
  9. HOW DO I SHOW MY EMAIL ADDRESS ALONG WITH MY USERNAME? You can LogIn on the Forum, and select PREFERENCES. On this page Members can add optional information such as their City,State, Country; Occupation; Hobbies: list a Homepage; list AOL Instant Messanger Handle; Signature; "Make Email Address viewable to others;" and even change the number of Default Topics shown on a page. WHEN others click on your profile, they will see this information.

Alan,
My pleasure. I have been attending since 1982. Back then there was little asphalt and lots of bumps and grass. Add in an ocassional rain remnant from a hurricane and you get the mud of Hershey. I alway said that one could figure out why Milton Hershey chose this area -- the mud looks just like liquid chocolate. (my apologies to Hershey).
As I mentioned, this was year 28 for the EFV-8CA, and thanks to such great gentlemen as Dennis Carpenter and Charlie Gunn we are out and about -- making our presence known and informing the public about what a great organization and membership we have.

Friday Day 5 addendum...

Just came back from dinner in downtown Hershey...........
Drove by Hershey Park ... and what we know as the Red Field is completely filled with automobiles-- and ALL the roller coasters were doing their thing -- at 630 pm on a Friday.
Guess HERCO knows something that we don't. Would have never expected that many people on a Friday night with the temps at 61 degrees.

Bruce, your blow-by-blow is very much appreciated! I've never been to Hershey, always wanted to go but never had the opportunity. Those days are gone for me now.

Day 5
The best part of the Hershey (AACA) Car Show day is watching all the vehicles drive onto the field. They have to enter on the far side of the Giant Center (hockey/concert arena) and then drive about 1/2 mile to the field. This year they had a very knowledgeable announcer talking about the vehicles as they passed into the field. (I should note that the AACA has gone digital and their PA system is now Blue-tooth enabled so there is no delay in the transmission of messages).
The temp was almost "frost on the pumpkin" this year so the grass was wet to walk through. Notables: Tucker #13 was driven onto the field. The AACA original/preservation class is growing. The early cars (one cylinder and brass era) draw the most spectators. There was a 1931 Lincoln Model K Limousine that had a custom body that made it look like you could accually stand up in it. And in my opinion the most interesting was a Crosley vehicle converted into an avaiation fuel despensing truck.
So until next year (October 6-10) we will have to wait and see. We know that it currently is warmer back home than here in PA.

Day 4.
With all of the fields visited, we attended the race car run at the stadium. This is done to prove that the race cars run and that they can then be pushed onto the show field without problems. We also stayed to watch the high wheelers run around the track (vehicles with large wheels that are over 100 years old)
The coolest day temp wise so far. We packed up around 4 pm and officially declared that another year was done.

Friday we will head to the field, park and then walk over and watch the show cars drive to the show field. Always an interesting and wonderful event.

Day 3 is in the books.
Another low 60 degree day with sun and blue sky, followed by some clouds.
Walked about 4 miles and saw a lot of V-8 stuff, but nothing that I needed. Winds will pick up over night so we pulled the cover off of the canopy.
More foot traffic than yesterday, but not like the old days were it was 'crowded'!

Have 'officially' walked all of the fields and some of the car corral (lots of empty spaces there) and as stated before, lots of open asphalt. But......since all the spaces supposedly have been sold.............guess the AACA can not complain.

Day 2.
Cooler as they said. About 66. Walked a little and found a few trinkets.
Breeze came up and made it feel cooler than the temp.

Interestingly, the PA system made an early announcement that stated that there were many cancelations because of the hurricane issues in the southeastern portion of the US. Traffic (walking) was lite.
Tomorrow is suppose to be about the same weather wise. Hoping for more.

According to the pedometer -- walked 6.22 miles today.
Most of it was looking at asphalt. But did see some interesting items. Weather was great. 72 degrees with a steady breeze.
Left around 2 pm after a manditory visit to Hershey Chocolate World.
Supposed to be cooler tomorrow, but we will be on the field around 7:30 am. Nothing like watching the sun come up over the Sweetest Place on Earth.
